Video poker is organized by chip softwares that are programmed to deal the player with random supply of cards from the deck in the monitor. A varied combination of random cards is generated in the monitor for every new player based on how the programming has been done. There is not just one standard form of video poker; there are multiple thousand variants of video poker games. Most of such games were initially played with inserting coins worth certain dollars for a particular game. As soon as the coin is inserted in the machine, the program deals random sequence of cards after which the game proceeds. Video poker is slowly getting replaced by online poker games.

Betting for these video poker games is done by either paying direct coins to the machine, or in some machines with betting some allotted credit points or presenting the machine with a ticket that has some barcodes on it.

Pay table in a video poker gives a tabulation of the credits or money that a player would win for each symbol. Based on the progression of the game, the pay table will list out how many credits or coins the player can win with a particular move.

A typical video poker has:-
• A score icon that lets the player read scores as the game progresses.
• A credit icon that lets the player read credits or bonus acquired during the game
• A start icon that lets the player to start with the game when pressed
• The bet icon denotes the credit value, score or money value that is placed as a bet
• The result icon declares either the win or lose of the game

This is an outline of the basic structure of a video poker; however, there are likely to be variations of the icons in different machines. There is yin and yang with video poker too. It is not all fool proof. There are several strategies to be mastered before anyone can make any real money out of it.

Expert video poker players stick on to playing with select machines. Playing with all and every machine has less chances of winning. All machines do not give the same result. Different strategies apply for different machines.

Jacks or better is the most famous of the video poker games. Before starting out to play any game, it is wise to be an audience to any player and watch the applicable rules, strategies and probabilities before you can act to bet in these games.

Poker rules are specific formats that describe how a particular poker game should be played. Most of the poker rules are general with some variations specific to the game type. In order to play a wise strategy in a game, we need to be sure and informed about the applicability of the poker rules right from the beginning.

Poker rules per betting are defined as:-
• Limit – In limit betting round one cannot bet more than a certain amount of chips as pre-determined by the small and big blinds or beyond the chips in hand.
• No limit – In no limit betting, there is no restrictions about the amount of chips that one should put in to the pot for the bet. A player has the liberty to exhaust all of his chips in the bet and in some purchase even more chips to bet.
• Pot limit – In pot limit betting, the player is supposed to bet the chips equaling the value of the pot at a time. No player can bet less than the pot value.

Poker rules per winning hands are defined as:-
• High hand wins- The player with a high hand card splits the pot.
• Low hand wins- The player who has the best low hand card splits the pot.
• High/low wins- The pot is shared between the high and the low hand. The sharing is not always equal. If the high hand has an equally ranking low card, them the sharing is 3/4 for the high rank card with best low and 1/4 for the low hand. If 2 people have a low hand, then half the pot is split by the high hand and the remaining half is split between the two low hands. Sometimes if there are no low hands the high hand takes the pot for self in full.

Some other poker rules you need to know are:-
• The dealer is the last to play and is denoted by a white chip. The dealer position is rotated clockwise by rotating the chip to each player in the absence of a house dealer.
• The person left to the dealer is supposed to make the small blind bet, which is half the big bet.
• The person left to the little blind bet is supposed to make big bet, which is usually double the little blind.

Poker rules are many and more defining the best of strategies. Cited above are just a few basics which everyone needs to know.

Online poker games are being organized by a vast number of online websites. Most of these games can be played unlimited and are handy to be played due to the user friendly poker softwares. Some of the online poker games are for free, while some are for money.

Some online poker games can be played after obtaining a registration and log in user name and password with the site. While some other games can be downloaded and installed in the system and can be played offline. However, online poker games have some advantages with being able to play with participants from varying corners of the world.

One table can be occupied by people from different parts of the world! And that is really interesting. Some of the commonly player online poker games are:-
• Texas Hold’em
• Omaha
• Stud poker
• Razz
• Horse
• Draw Poker

Several variants of each of these games are available with variants being those relating to variations in the betting structure and the winning hand strategies. Though all of these games in online poker are not very different from real-time casinos, the thrill of playing the game online is no less in terms of excitement.

You might have to consider between the following choices before you start playing online poker games:-
• Sites which offer freerolls
• Sites that offer paid memberships and are real money games
• Sites that offer bonuses
• Sites that have easy to win games
• Sites that have large number of players
• Sites that offer tournaments

Online poker tourneys can be classified broadly as:-
• Fixed scheduled tournaments
• Sit and go tournaments

If you are just beginning your poker journey, it is wise you stick on to beginning your online poker with freerolls. Once you get a real feel of what online poker is all about and once you get used to the rules and strategies you can switch on to getting paid memberships and you can try your hands with the real money games. Be sure to start with easy to win games and a few dollars.

Poker is a mind game and regardless of you playing offline poker or online poker you need to be a little cunning and learn a little tricks and deception, which is called bluffing, to be a smart chip leader. Once you are sure, determined and meticulous in your games then you might even graduate to win with Word Poker Series and Tourneys!

Poker basics vary between different variant of a particular game. Some cards are dealt face up and some cards are dealt face down. The ultimate ambition is winning with mastering basics. The winning can be either by showdown or by you surviving when all others did fold.

The poker basics of show down suggest that if you have a good ranking hand you can declare that you are done regardless of whether there are still players waiting to bet. In a showdown, a comparison is made between the existing players too; whoever has the high ranking good hand takes the pot. In some variants, the good low hand takes the pot. It depends on what game is being played.

The poker basics of winning after every players fold is quite simple that when all others fold they declare that they have no claim over the pot and you win. The pot is solely yours.

Little bet, big bet, dealing, calling, folding, raising, show down and bluffing are all poker Basics that one needs to learn to play any kind of poker game. They are quite easy to be learnt and to be applied, but playing the strategy of a particular game right contributes to the success of the game!

Poker variations applies to the type and title of the game, the structure of the betting, the deciding factor for the winning hand and other related strategy variations of a particular game.

Poker variations in dealing arises from some cards being dealt face down and some cards face up; some games allow community cards, while some do not. Poker variations also apply with players being able to draw more than one card from a deck to replace their cards. Some variations lie with regards to letting the player not to use the open card for the draw and some let them use the open card.

Poker variations in betting concerns with being able to bet as much as one could; some variations of games entertain players to purchase more chips to bet, while most prefer them to play with their existing chips. There are also limitations of how much one could bet like in limit, no limit, spread limit and pot limit games.

Poker variations in winning also apply with who the winner is. Some games declare the high rank card as the winner, some declare the low rank card, and some split the pot between the high and low and it quite varies between the kind of poker and the associated variant of a particular game.

Burn card is not used in the game to form a hand and it is dealt face down in the flop, turn and river rounds.

In pre flop, forced little and big bets are obligatory to start the game, after which two face down hole cards are dealt clockwise for each player. After looking in to the cards, players choose to call the bet, fold, or raise the pot value. If any player raises the bet, it is compulsory that all other players call or fold the raised bet. Re-raising may also follow in a single round.

In flop, the dealer deals burns one card and then 3 face down cards. The little blind player is the first to act; he can check the game from betting if he has a bad hand. The flop is followed by turn in which one burn card and the fourth community card is dealt, players fold or bet in this round.

The river is followed by the burn of one card and a fifth community card followed by fold or bet in this round. After the series of round, if there is only one player without folding, he takes the pot; if there are multiple players there is a show down and the best 5 cards wins the pot.

You will be able to bet only the size of the pot and you cannot bluff out very easily to mislead your opponents. Pot Limit Holdem has rules relating to the bet you can make to raise the pot value. In pot limit holdem if you are planning to raise the bet, you need to make the bet considering the last bet made by a player plus the new total pot value after the last bet was made and nothing less!

It requires lots of practice to calculate odds in these games and to play effective draws. You might be quite close to a flush or straight, but it is quite important that you decide losing versus gaining a pot with a draw.

Pot Limit Holdem should be strategically played quite brilliantly from the very beginning, unless otherwise it is quite difficult to win the table. The strength of initial pocket cards should tell you if you will do better with proceeding or otherwise. Playing a wise pre flop round is crucial to get away to winning in this game.

However, with these games being the trickiest of all you would love it when you get to win a few hands in these! The Pot Limit Holdem usually ends up in a draw. They make your blood run quite fast and kind of exciting...

A Five Card Stud is strengthened by high rank cards and pairs. The dealing of the cards begins with one card face down and one card face up followed by betting in the first round by the low hand. The third and fourth and fifth street cards are dealt face up, each followed by a betting round. Players like in any other pokers either fold or call or raise in each round.

With at least four of the cards dealt up, you can easily calculate odds in five card stud determining the strongest and the weakest hand. High rank cards and pairs usually win lot of the rounds; however, you need to make sure that the others are not showing up cards that you need for completing with a flush or straight.

The betting by low or high hand varies with the structure of the betting of five card stud ranging from pot limit, no limit, spread limit etcetera.

Five card stud leaves the player with the option of drawing up to a maximum of 5 cards. However, some strategies require one to fold it they need more than 2 or 3 cards in a draw! Showdown leads to pot splitting.

Pre-flop holdem is the betting round that is compulsory before the flop round or before any card is ever dealt for any players. In Pre-flop holdem the player left to the dealer is supposed to make the little blind bet and the player left to the little blind person should make the big blind bet. The little blind and big blind is forced bets in most holdem pokers. The little blind value is in most cases the half of the big blind value.

The bet in Pre-flop holdem is called blind bets because the players bet without knowing the exact strength of their cards. However playing the Pre-flop holdem round is very crucial for the game. A player should be wise enough to fold if the 2 of their face down pocket cards do not promise any kind of possibility for a high card hand or any kind of probability to develop in the round. Since the first of the 2 pocket cards determine the major part of the game players should choose their stand in the pre-flop holdem round.

In a Pre-flop holdem AKQJT are high rank cards with the merit being more for A and K and less for Q and even less for J and very less for T when compared to A. You need to check if your pocket cards have possibilities to proceed any further.

Most of us would have tried the draw poker from our third grades in school when our uncles or aunts would have thought us some basic scarps of these games. This is the form of poker which mutated to several other forms which are being played in most clubs now. A draw poker is rarely played in casinos these days!

Of the several variants, the 5 card draw poker is quite common where the player builds good hands from the 5 cards. The best hand wins in draw poker. The 5 cards are dealt face down by the dealer; from the time the dealer deals the cards through the rounds when the players replace their cards from the deck in the table everything is face down and the cards are revealed only when the showdown session comes.

The flow of the game is draw poker does not differ greatly. It starts with ante, which is a small entrance fee to the pot, then it is followed by dealing of the card face down one per player until each gets 5, then follows the betting or folding or pass of the draw, followed by call and raise and discarding!
